Spiritual Direction Program
Dominican Center Spirituality for Mission Spiritual Direction program is a holistic journey that prepares individuals to accompany others in their relationship with God, self, and others on a daily basis. Rooted in contemplative presence, deep listening, and sacred companionship, it integrates spiritual practices, psycholgical insight, theological reflection, and pastoral sensitivity. Through personal transformation, supervised practice, and communal discernment, participants learn to hold space for others’ unfolding spiritual lives with humility, compassion, and wisdom.
Program Overview
This comprehensive certificate program offers theological, psychological, spiritual, and pastoral formation for those discerning a call to spiritual direction. Rooted in the Christian contemplative tradition, this program integrates deep listening, prayer practices, discernment, and vocational preparation for offering sacred accompaniment across diverse contexts.
Integration Framework for theSpiritual Direction Certificate Program
Each module includes the following lenses:
• Human development
consists of the Stages of life, faith formation, identity formation,trauma, grief, transitions.
• Psychological Insight
explores Psychological Insight Ego, shadow, inner movements, relational dynamics, boundaries,
self-awareness.
• Spiritual Formation
studies practices, discernment, contemplative presence, personal rule of life, vocation.
• Theological and Biblical Foundations
Roles of God, Holy Spirit, Christ, grace, Scripture in direction and formation.
• Pastoral and Social Applications
expressed in Ethics, cultural awareness, inclusion, accompaniment, referral, supervision.
Participants
All people of faith who would like to aid others in experiencing, understanding, and sharing how God is present in daily life. Our program warmly welcomes individuals from all faith traditions and those who identify as spiritual but not religious. We believe in the
power of diversity and the richness it brings to our shared experiences. Our program is open to business professionals, first responders, educators, ministers, and helping professionals. Applicants need to be open to discussing and learning about religious traditions, theology, psychology, biblical understandings, and developing a contemplative perspective.
Program Requirements
1. College Degree or Professional Certification
2. A developing relationship with God and a commitment
to journeying in faith
3. Willingness to identify and intern with 2-3 directees
4. A completed application form
5. Three letters of recommendation
6. A personal interview with the program staff
7. A commitment to attend sessions throughout the two-year program
8. Attend two directed retreat in addition cohort sessions

Tuition and Fees
Application Fee: $60.00 (Non-refundable must accompany the application)
Tuition: $1,500.00 per year (two-year program)
